Frequently Asked Questions
How does Comscore define and calculate Share of Ad Exposure Time?
Share of Ad Exposure Time is The Score Report's key metric for measuring the percentage of total measurable television advertising viewership attributed to a publisher, platform, or owner.

Calculation: An entity's total ad exposure time ÷ all measurable advertising exposure captured within The Score Report reporting universe, during the reporting period.
What does Share of Ad Exposure Time measure, and how should it be interpreted?
Share of Ad Exposure Time represents an entity's portion of the total measurable television ad viewing time captured within The Score Report. It measures advertising exposure, not overall content consumption, and does not indicate how much time audiences spend watching a service, network, show, or series. It is also not a measure of available advertising inventory, number of ad slots, advertising spend, unique reach, or frequency.

Results may be influenced by audience scale, time spent with ad-supported content, and advertising load. A higher share means that an entity accounts for a larger portion of measured advertising exposure, but it does not inherently indicate better or worse performance, advertising effectiveness, or viewer experience.
How does Comscore create The Score Report?
The Score Report is compiled using Comscore's comprehensive measurement data, including references to both Linear (broadcast and cable television) and Streaming data sources to provide a unified view of advertising exposure across all platforms.
How does Comscore define the reporting period?
The Score Report is published monthly, with each report covering a complete broadcast month consisting of either four or five weeks. For example, a report published in October includes data for the August broadcast month.
How are vMVPD services, such as YouTube TV, Sling, or Hulu Live, reported?
For vMVPD services streaming linear content, the ads shown are credited to the cable network or broadcast station where the content originated.

Example: An ad shown on NBC viewed through YouTube TV is credited to NBC rather than YouTube.
What devices are measured in The Score Report?
The Score Report measures ads exposed on a television device in-home, including Linear (Broadcast + Cable) and Streaming via smart TVs and TV-connected streaming devices.

Ad exposure on the following devices is not included in The Score Report:

• Desktop/Laptops
• Mobile Phones
• Tablets
